Trail crests

The Fundy Hiking Trail Association has produced two new crest for the Fundy Footpath and the Dobson Trail. Since the trail is maintained by volunteers and funded by donations and the sale of trail guides, these crest are part of the fundraising activities.

The crest are on sale for $6 each and will be available at some local retailers and through some association members. If you are interested in purchasing any of these crest please contact Dobsontrail@gmail.com or footpath@nbnet.nb.ca and we will figure out a way to get them to you. Once we have some available at the retail outlets I will list them on here as well. We also have some Dobson Trail stickers which are the same as the crest for sale for $2 each.

Trail Committee statement on dog use issue

The Dobson Trail was built under the guidance of Dr Arthur Dobson, a local resident of the Town of Riverview. The trail from Riverview to Fundy National Park was completed in 1959 with the assistance of Riverview Boy Scouts and local volunteers. The Fundy Hiking Trail Association was established to assure that the trail would continue to be maintained and improved by local volunteers.

You will note improvements such as a guide wire to assist the visually challenged and individuals who may have movement issues that are not always obvious .The trail is used by young and old, individuals in various ages and stages of health, who wish to remain physically active and have access to the natural beauty of the Dobson Trail.

Current safety issue: Some dogs are not on leash and are running out of control on the trail. Some seniors have been tripped and bowled over, some children have been accosted by dogs running off leash on the trail. The trail is narrow, some off leash dogs have been aggressive towards other dogs , walkers and joggers.

Responsible dog owners have their dog on leash. The Dobson Trail etiquette and safety rules have not changed. It has always been required that dogs be on leash.

Public safety: The Fundy Hiking Trail Association is requesting that all dog owners assure that their dogs are on leash at all times on the Dobson Trail.

Lead by Example and Promote Civic Responsibility: We wish to congratulate the dog owners who are acting responsibility by observing existing leash and dog control regulations. Exercise due care to assure safe, shared and continued public access to the Dobson Trail.
